§137
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhamūle paṭhamābhisambuddho. Atha kho bhagavato rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘‘mutto vatamhi tāya dukkarakārikāya. Sādhu mutto vatamhi tāya anatthasaṃhitāya dukkarakārikāya. Sādhu vatamhi mutto bodhiṃ samajjhaga’’nti .
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在伍卢韦喇尼连禅河岸阿惹巴拉榕树下,初证正觉。那时世尊独自宴坐时生起如是思惟:「我实已从苦行解脱。善哉,我实已从无益之苦行解脱。善哉,我实解脱而证得觉悟。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时魔波旬以心了知世尊心中之思惟,前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Tapokammā apakkamma, yena na sujjhanti māṇavā;
「舍离苦行之业,学童以此不得清净;
Asuddho maññasi suddho, suddhimaggā aparaddho’’ ti.
「不清净,你却认为清净;你已错失清净之道。」
Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
那时世尊知「此是魔波旬」,以偈对魔波旬说:
‘‘Anatthasaṃhitaṃ ñatvā, yaṃ kiñci amaraṃ tapaṃ ;
「知一切无益之不死苦行,
Sabbaṃ natthāvahaṃ hoti, phiyārittaṃva dhammani .
皆无所导,如陆上之桨舵。
‘‘Sīlaṃ samādhi paññañca, maggaṃ bodhāya bhāvayaṃ;
修习戒、定、慧,为觉悟之道,
Pattosmi paramaṃ suddhiṃ, nihato tvamasi antakā’’ti.
我已得最上清净,终结者,你已被击败。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti, dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
2. Hatthirājavaṇṇasuttaṃ2. 象王赞经
§138
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhamūle paṭhamābhisambuddho . Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṃ abbhokāse nisinno hoti, devo ca ekamekaṃ phusāyati. Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo mahantaṃ hatthirājavaṇṇaṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Seyyathāpi nāma mahāariṭṭhako maṇi, evamassa sīsaṃ hoti. Seyyathāpi nāma suddhaṃ rūpiyaṃ, evamassa dantā honti. Seyyathāpi nāma mahatī naṅgalīsā , evamassa soṇḍo hoti. Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在伍卢韦喇,在尼连禅河岸边的山羊牧人尼拘律树下,初证正自觉。尔时,世尊在夜黑暗冥时坐在露地,天正一滴一滴地下着雨。时,魔波旬为了在世尊中生起恐惧、战栗、毛骨悚然,化作大象王的外形,前往世尊所在之处。如大如意宝珠一般,那是它的头。如纯净的银一般,那是它的牙。如大犁轭一般,那是它的鼻。时,世尊知道「这是魔波旬」后,以偈对魔波旬说——
‘‘Saṃsaraṃ dīghamaddhānaṃ, vaṇṇaṃ katvā subhāsubhaṃ;
「轮回长时间,作美丑之色,
Alaṃ te tena pāpima, nihato tvamasi antakā’’ti.
波旬,于你已足够!终结者,你已被击败。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
3. Subhasuttaṃ3. 苏巴经
§139
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhamūle paṭhamābhisambuddho. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṃ abbhokāse nisinno hoti, devo ca ekamekaṃ phusāyati. Atha kho māro pāpimā, bhagavato bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo, yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato avidūre uccāvacā vaṇṇanibhā upadaṃseti, subhā ceva asubhā ca. Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在优楼频螺,在尼连禅河岸边,牧羊人榕树下,初证正觉之时。当时,世尊在夜暗黑暗时坐在露地,天正在一滴一滴地下雨。那时,魔罗波旬,为了使世尊生起害怕、惊慌、毛发竖立,前往世尊所在之处;前往后,在世尊不远处显示种种高低色相,美丽的和不美丽的。那时,世尊知道「这是魔罗波旬」后,以偈颂对魔罗波旬说——
‘‘Saṃsaraṃ dīghamaddhānaṃ, vaṇṇaṃ katvā subhāsubhaṃ;
「轮回长时间,作美丑之色,
Alaṃ te tena pāpima, nihato tvamasi antaka.
波旬,于你已足够!终结者,你已被击败。
‘‘Ye ca kāyena vācāya, manasā ca susaṃvutā;
凡以身、语、意善加守护者,
Na te māravasānugā, na te mārassa baddhagū’’ ti.
彼等不随魔之势,彼等不为魔所缚。」
Atha kho māro…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
4. Paṭhamamārapāsasuttaṃ4. 魔索第一经
§140
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā bārāṇasiyaṃ viharati isipatane migadāye. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在巴拉纳西仙人堕处鹿野苑。在那里,世尊呼唤诸比库:「诸比库。」那些比库回答世尊:「尊者。」世尊如是说:
‘‘Mayhaṃ kho, bhikkhave, yoniso manasikārā yoniso sammappadhānā anuttarā vimutti anuppattā, anuttarā vimutti sacchikatā. Tumhepi, bhikkhave, yoniso manasikārā yoniso sammappadhānā anuttaraṃ vimuttiṃ anupāpuṇātha, anuttaraṃ vimuttiṃ sacchikarothā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
「诸比库!由于如理作意、如理正勤,我已达到无上解脱,已现证无上解脱。诸比库!你们也由于如理作意、如理正勤,当达到无上解脱,当现证无上解脱。」 那时,魔罗巴毕玛前往世尊所在之处;到达后,以偈颂对世尊说——
‘‘Baddhosi mārapāsena, ye dibbā ye ca mānusā;
「你被魔罥所缚——诸天之罥与人间之罥;
Mārabandhanabaddhosi, na me samaṇa mokkhasī’’ti.
你被魔缚所缚,沙门,你不能从我解脱。」
‘‘Muttāhaṃ mārapāsena, ye dibbā ye ca mānusā;
「我已从魔罥解脱——诸天之罥与人间之罥;
Mārabandhanamuttomhi, nihato tvamasi antakā’’ti.
我已从魔缚解脱,终结者,你已被击败。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
5. Dutiyamārapāsasuttaṃ5. 魔索第二经
§141
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā bārāṇasiyaṃ viharati isipatane migadāye. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
一时,世尊住在巴拉纳西仙人堕处鹿野苑。在那里,世尊呼唤诸比库:「诸比库。」那些比库回答世尊:「尊者。」世尊如是说:
‘‘Muttāhaṃ, bhikkhave, sabbapāsehi ye dibbā ye ca mānusā. Tumhepi, bhikkhave, muttā sabbapāsehi ye dibbā ye ca mānusā. Caratha, bhikkhave, cārikaṃ bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Mā ekena dve agamittha. Desetha, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ ādikalyāṇaṃ majjhekalyāṇaṃ pariyosānakalyāṇaṃ sātthaṃ sabyañjanaṃ kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ pakāsetha. Santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā, assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti. Bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro. Ahampi, bhikkhave, yena uruvelā senānigamo tenupasaṅkamissāmi dhammadesanāyā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
「诸比库,我已从一切罥解脱——诸天之罥与人间之罥。诸比库,你们亦已从一切罥解脱——诸天之罥与人间之罥。诸比库,去吧,为多人之利、多人之乐、悲悯世间、为人天之利益与安乐而游行。不要两人同行一路。诸比库,应说初善、中善、后善、有义、有文、纯一、圆满、清净之法,显示梵行。有众生尘垢少者,因不闻法故衰退。将有了知法者。诸比库,我亦将前往伍卢韦喇将军村宣说法。」那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Baddhosi sabbapāsehi, ye dibbā ye ca mānusā;
「你被一切罥所缚——诸天之罥与人间之罥;
Mahābandhanabaddhosi, na me samaṇa mokkhasī’’ti.
你被大缚所缚,沙门,你不能从我解脱。」
‘‘Muttāhaṃ sabbapāsehi, ye dibbā ye ca mānusā;
「我已从一切罥解脱——诸天之罥与人间之罥;
Mahābandhanamuttomhi, nihato tvamasi antakā’’ti.
我已从大缚解脱,终结者,你已被击败。」

6. Sappasuttaṃ6. 蛇经
§142
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṃ abbhokāse nisinno hoti, devo ca ekamekaṃ phusāyati.
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城竹林栗鼠饲养处。那时世尊于黑暗之夜露地而坐,细雨点点落下。
Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo mahantaṃ sapparājavaṇṇaṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Seyyathāpi nāma mahatī ekarukkhikā nāvā, evamassa kāyo hoti. Seyyathāpi nāma mahantaṃ soṇḍikākiḷañjaṃ, evamassa phaṇo hoti. Seyyathāpi nāma mahatī kosalikā kaṃsapāti, evamassa akkhīni bhavanti. Seyyathāpi nāma deve gaḷagaḷāyante vijjullatā niccharanti, evamassa mukhato jivhā niccharati. Seyyathāpi nāma kammāragaggariyā dhamamānāya saddo hoti, evamassa assāsapassāsānaṃ saddo hoti.
那时,魔波旬欲令世尊生起恐惧、战栗、毛发竖立,化作大蛇王相,前往世尊所在之处。犹如大独木舟,其身如是。犹如大酒酿槽,其颈兜如是。犹如大国萨拉铜钵,其眼如是。犹如天空雷鸣时闪电射出,其口中舌头如是射出。犹如铁匠风箱鼓吹之声,其出息入息之声如是。
Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
那时世尊知「此是魔波旬」,以偈对魔波旬说:
‘‘Yo suññagehāni sevati,
「凡依空屋而住者,
Seyyo so muni attasaññato;
彼牟尼自我克制;
Vossajja careyya tattha so,
舍离而游行于彼处,
Patirūpañhi tathāvidhassa taṃ.
此乃彼之相应行。
‘‘Carakā bahū bheravā bahū,
「行者虽多、恐怖虽多,
Atho ḍaṃsasarīsapā bahū;
又有蚊虻蛇蝎之多;
Lomampi na tattha iñjaye,
大牟尼于空屋中,
Suññāgāragato mahāmuni.
身毛亦不动摇。
‘‘Nabhaṃ phaleyya pathavī caleyya,
「纵使天裂地震动,
Sabbepi pāṇā uda santaseyyuṃ;
一切众生尽恐惧;
Sallampi ce urasi pakappayeyyuṃ,
纵使标枪刺入胸,
Upadhīsu tāṇaṃ na karonti buddhā’’ti.
诸佛不依依着作防护。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
7. Supatisuttaṃ7. 善眠经
§143
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Atha kho bhagavā bahudevarattiṃ abbhokāse caṅkamitvā rattiyā paccūsasamayaṃ pāde pakkhāletvā vihāraṃ pavisitvā dakkhiṇena passena sīhaseyyaṃ kappesi pāde pādaṃ accādhāya sato sampajāno uṭṭhānasaññaṃ manasi karitvā. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
一时,世尊住在王舍城竹林栗鼠饲养处。那时,世尊在露地经行至深夜,在夜晚破晓时分洗足后,进入住处,以右胁作狮子卧,足叠足,具念、正知,心念起来之想。那时,魔罗波旬前往世尊处;前往后,以偈颂对世尊说——
‘‘Kiṃ soppasi kiṃ nu soppasi,
「为何而眠?为何而眠?
Kimidaṃ soppasi dubbhago viya;
为何如此而眠,如不幸者?
Suññamagāranti soppasi,
说『空屋也』而眠;
Kimidaṃ soppasi sūriye uggate’’ti.
日已升起,为何犹眠?」
‘‘Yassa jālinī visattikā,
「彼无罥网之渴爱——
Taṇhā natthi kuhiñci netave;
渴爱无处可引至;
Sabbūpadhiparikkhayā buddho,
灭尽一切依着之佛,
Soppati kiṃ tavettha mārā’’ti.
睡眠与你何干,魔?」
Atha kho māro pāpimā…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
8. Nandatisuttaṃ8. 欢喜经
§144
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在沙瓦提城祇树给孤独园。那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已于世尊前说此偈:
‘‘Nandati puttehi puttimā, gomā gobhi tatheva nandati;
「有子者因子而喜,有牛者因牛而喜;
Upadhīhi narassa nandanā, na hi so nandati yo nirūpadhī’’ti.
依着为人之喜,无依着者实不喜。」
‘‘Socati puttehi puttimā, gomā gobhi tatheva socati;
「有子者因子而愁,有牛者因牛而愁;
Upadhīhi narassa socanā, na hi so socati yo nirūpadhī’’ti.
依着为人之愁,无依着者实不愁。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
9. Paṭhamaāyusuttaṃ9. 寿命第一经
§145
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城竹林栗鼠饲养处。在那里,世尊呼唤诸比库:「诸比库。」那些比库回答世尊:「尊者。」世尊如是说:
‘‘Appamidaṃ, bhikkhave, manussānaṃ āyu. Gamanīyo samparāyo, kattabbaṃ kusalaṃ, caritabbaṃ brahmacariyaṃ. Natthi jātassa amaraṇaṃ. Yo, bhikkhave, ciraṃ jīvati, so vassasataṃ appaṃ vā bhiyyo’’ti.
「诸比库,人之寿命短促,必至来世,应作善行,应修梵行。已生者无不死。诸比库,若长寿者,活百岁或稍多。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Dīghamāyu manussānaṃ, na naṃ hīḷe suporiso;
「人之寿命长,善人勿轻视;
Careyya khīramattova, natthi maccussa āgamo’’ti.
应如饮乳婴儿而行,死亡无来临。」
‘‘Appamāyu manussānaṃ, hīḷeyya naṃ suporiso;
「人之寿命短,善人应轻视;
Careyyādittasīsova, natthi maccussa nāgamo’’ti.
应如头燃之人而行,死亡必将来临。」
Atha kho māro…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
10. Dutiyaāyusuttaṃ10. 寿命第二经
§146
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tatra kho bhagavā…pe… etadavoca –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城竹林栗鼠饲养处。在那里世尊……如是说:
‘‘Appamidaṃ, bhikkhave, manussānaṃ āyu. Gamanīyo samparāyo, kattabbaṃ kusalaṃ, caritabbaṃ brahmacariyaṃ. Natthi jātassa amaraṇaṃ. Yo, bhikkhave, ciraṃ jīvati, so vassasataṃ appaṃ vā bhiyyo’’ti.
「诸比库,人之寿命短促,必至来世,应作善行,应修梵行。已生者无不死。诸比库,若长寿者,活百岁或稍多。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Nāccayanti ahorattā, jīvitaṃ nūparujjhati;
「昼夜不过去,生命亦不断;
Āyu anupariyāyati, maccānaṃ nemīva rathakubbara’’nti.
寿命随流转,如车轮之辐。」
‘‘Accayanti ahorattā, jīvitaṃ uparujjhati;
「昼夜飞逝去,生命实断灭;
Āyu khīyati maccānaṃ, kunnadīnaṃva odaka’’nti.
人之寿命尽,如小河之水。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
Paṭhamo vaggo. · 第一品
Tassuddānaṃ –
摄颂曰:
Tapokammañca nāgo ca, subhaṃ pāsena te duve;
「苦行与象,清净、罥、二者;
Sappo supati nandanaṃ, āyunā apare duveti.
蛇、睡眠、乐、寿命,另二为后。」

1. Pāsāṇasuttaṃ1. 石经
§147
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakūṭe pabbate. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṃ abbhokāse nisinno hoti, devo ca ekamekaṃ phusāyati. Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato avidūre mahante pāsāṇe padālesi.
一时,世尊住在王舍城鹫峰山。那时,世尊在黑暗夜晚坐于露地,天正在一滴一滴地下着雨。那时,魔罗波旬想要使世尊生起恐怖、战栗、毛骨悚然,前往世尊所在之处;前往后,在世尊不远处击碎大石。
Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时世尊知「此是魔罗波旬」,以偈对魔罗波旬说:
‘‘Sacepi kevalaṃ sabbaṃ, gijjhakūṭaṃ calessasi ;
「纵使你能撼动整个鹫峰山,
Neva sammāvimuttānaṃ, buddhānaṃ atthi iñjita’’nti.
对正解脱之佛陀,亦无动摇。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔波旬……即于彼处消失。
2. Kinnusīhasuttaṃ2. 何为狮子经
§148
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā mahatiyā parisāya parivuto dhammaṃ deseti.
一时,世尊住在沙瓦提城祇树给孤独园。那时世尊为大众所围绕而说法。

那时,魔罗波旬生起了这样的念头:「这位沙门果德玛被大众围绕着说法。我何不到沙门果德玛那里去扰乱他呢?」那时,魔罗波旬到世尊那里;到了之后,用偈颂对世尊说:
‘‘Kinnu sīhova nadasi, parisāyaṃ visārado;
「何以如狮子吼,于众中无畏?
Paṭimallo hi te atthi, vijitāvī nu maññasī’’ti.
实有与你相敌者,你以为已胜耶?」
‘‘Nadanti ve mahāvīrā, parisāsu visāradā;
「大勇者于众中作无畏吼,
Tathāgatā balappattā, tiṇṇā loke visattika’’nti.
如来已得力,度越世间之染著。」

3. Sakalikasuttaṃ3. 碎片经

Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati maddakucchismiṃ migadāye. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavato pādo sakalikāya khato hoti, bhusā sudaṃ bhagavato vedanā vattanti sārīrikā dukkhā tibbā kharā kaṭukā asātā amanāpā. Tā sudaṃ bhagavā sato sampajāno adhivāseti avihaññamāno. Atha kho bhagavā catugguṇaṃ saṅghāṭiṃ paññapetvā dakkhiṇena passena sīhaseyyaṃ kappesi pāde pādaṃ accādhāya sato sampajāno. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城末达咕奇鹿野苑。那时世尊之足为石片所伤,世尊身受剧烈痛苦——苦、猛、烈、辣、不悦、不可意之身受。世尊具念正知而忍受,无扰乱。那时世尊铺四重桑喀帝衣,右胁作狮子卧,足足相叠,具念正知。那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Mandiyā nu kho sesi udāhu kāveyyamatto,
「你因懈怠而卧?抑因诗兴陶醉?
Atthā nu te sampacurā na santi;
利益于你不多耶?
Eko vivitte sayanāsanamhi,
独于空寂之卧处,
Niddāmukho kimidaṃ soppase vā’’ti.
何以如欲眠者而眠?」
‘‘Na mandiyā sayāmi nāpi kāveyyamatto,
「非因懈怠而卧,亦非诗兴陶醉,
Atthaṃ sameccāhamapetasoko;
已通达义而无愁;
Eko vivitte sayanāsanamhi,
独于空寂之卧处,
Sayāmahaṃ sabbabhūtānukampī.
哀愍一切众生而卧。
‘‘Yesampi sallaṃ urasi paviṭṭhaṃ,
「那些胸中有箭插入者,
Muhuṃ muhuṃ hadayaṃ vedhamānaṃ;
心常被刺痛;
Tepīdha soppaṃ labhare sasallā,
彼等有箭犹得眠,
Tasmā ahaṃ na supe vītasallo.
故我无箭而为何不眠?
‘‘Jaggaṃ na saṅke napi bhemi sottuṃ,
「醒时不虑,眠时无怖;
Rattindivā nānutapanti māmaṃ;
昼夜不恼我,
Hāniṃ na passāmi kuhiñci loke,
于世间中不见任何损失,
Tasmā supe sabbabhūtānukampī’’ti.
故哀愍一切众生而眠。」

Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā kosalesu viharati ekasālāyaṃ brāhmaṇagāme. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā mahatiyā gihiparisāya parivuto dhammaṃ deseti.
一时,世尊住在国萨拉一沙罗婆罗门村。那时世尊为大在家众所围绕而说法。
Atha kho mārassa pāpimato etadahosi – ‘‘ayaṃ kho samaṇo gotamo mahatiyā gihiparisāya parivuto dhammaṃ deseti. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena samaṇo gotamo tenupasaṅkameyyaṃ vicakkhukammāyā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时,魔罗波旬如是思惟:「这位沙门果德玛被众多在家众围绕,正在说法。让我去沙门果德玛处,以盲目之业。」那时,魔罗波旬去到世尊处;去到后,以偈颂对世尊说:
‘‘Netaṃ tava patirūpaṃ, yadaññamanusāsasi;
「此非你所应为——教导他人;
Anurodhavirodhesu, mā sajjittho tadācara’’nti.
于顺逆之中,莫沾著而行。」
‘‘Hitānukampī sambuddho, yadaññamanusāsati;
「正觉者哀愍而利益他人,教导他人;
Anurodhavirodhehi, vippamutto tathāgato’’ti.
如来于顺逆中已解脱。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
5. Mānasasuttaṃ5. 意经

Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在沙瓦提城祇树给孤独园。那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Antalikkhacaro pāso, yvāyaṃ carati mānaso;
「行于空中之罥,此乃意行者;
Tena taṃ bādhayissāmi, na me samaṇa mokkhasī’’ti.
我将以此束缚你,沙门,你不能从我解脱。」
‘‘Rūpā saddā rasā gandhā, phoṭṭhabbā ca manoramā;
「可意之色、声、香、味、触,
Ettha me vigato chando, nihato tvamasi antakā’’ti.
于此我已离欲,终结者,你已被击败。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
6. Pattasuttaṃ6. 钵经

Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā pañcannaṃ upādānakkhandhānaṃ upādāya bhikkhūnaṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti. Te ca bhikkhū aṭṭhiṃ katvā manasi katvā sabbacetasā samannāharitvā ohitasotā dhammaṃ suṇanti.
沙瓦提城缘起。尔时,世尊以依五取蕴的法说,为诸比库示现、鼓励、激发、使之欢喜。那些比库作意、置于心中、以全心受持、倾耳倾听法。
Atha kho mārassa pāpimato etadahosi – ‘‘ayaṃ kho samaṇo gotamo pañcannaṃ upādānakkhandhānaṃ upādāya bhikkhūnaṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti. Te ca bhikkhū aṭṭhiṃ katvā manasi katvā sabbacetasā samannāharitvā ohitasotā dhammaṃ suṇanti. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena samaṇo gotamo tenupasaṅkameyyaṃ vicakkhukammāyā’’ti.
那时,魔罗波旬生起这样的想法:「这位沙门果德玛正对比库们依五取蕴作如法之语,开示、劝导、鼓励、鼓舞。而那些比库们作意、留意,以全心专注,倾耳听法。让我前往沙门果德玛那里制造障碍。」
Tena kho pana samayena sambahulā pattā abbhokāse nikkhittā honti. Atha kho māro pāpimā balībaddavaṇṇaṃ abhinimminitvā yena te pattā tenupasaṅkami. Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘bhikkhu, bhikkhu, eso balībaddo patte bhindeyyā’’ti. Evaṃ vutte bhagavā taṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘na so, bhikkhu, balībaddo. Māro eso pāpimā tumhākaṃ vicakkhukammāya āgato’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时有众多之钵放置于露地。那时魔罗波旬化作公牛形,前往那些钵之处。那时某比库对另一比库说:「比库,比库,此公牛将打破钵!」如是说时,世尊对彼比库说:「那不是公牛,比库。那是魔罗波旬为障你们之视觉而来。」那时世尊知「此是魔罗波旬」,以偈对魔罗波旬说:
‘‘Rūpaṃ vedayitaṃ saññā, viññāṇaṃ yañca saṅkhataṃ;
「色、受、想、识与行,
Nesohamasmi netaṃ me, evaṃ tattha virajjati.
『此非我、此非我所』——于此离贪。
‘‘Evaṃ virattaṃ khemattaṃ, sabbasaṃyojanātigaṃ;
「如此已离贪、安稳、越一切结,
Anvesaṃ sabbaṭṭhānesu, mārasenāpi nājjhagā’’ti.
于一切处寻,魔军亦不得。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
7. Chaphassāyatanasuttaṃ7. 六触处经

Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā vesāliyaṃ viharati mahāvane kūṭāgārasālāyaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā channaṃ phassāyatanānaṃ upādāya bhikkhūnaṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti. Te ca bhikkhū aṭṭhiṃ katvā manasi katvā sabbacetasā samannāharitvā ohitasotā dhammaṃ suṇanti.
一时,世尊住在韦萨离大林重阁堂。 尔时,世尊以六触处为依据,以法谈对诸比库说明、劝导、鼓励、使之欢喜。那些比库作意、思惟,以完全之心专注,倾耳而听法。
Atha kho mārassa pāpimato etadahosi – ‘‘ayaṃ kho samaṇo gotamo channaṃ phassāyatanānaṃ upādāya bhikkhūnaṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sappahaṃseti . Te ca bhikkhū aṭṭhiṃ katvā manasi katvā sabbacetasā samannāharitvā ohitasotā dhammaṃ suṇanti. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena samaṇo gotamo tenupasaṅkameyyaṃ vicakkhukammāyā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato avidūre mahantaṃ bhayabheravaṃ saddamakāsi, apissudaṃ pathavī maññe undrīyati . Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘bhikkhu, bhikkhu, esā pathavī maññe undrīyatī’’ti. Evaṃ vutte, bhagavā taṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘nesā bhikkhu pathavī undrīyati. Māro eso pāpimā tumhākaṃ vicakkhukammāya āgato’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时,邪恶的魔罗这样想:「这位沙门果德玛依六触处向比库们以如法之语开示、劝导、鼓励、使之欢喜。而那些比库们作意、留意、以全心受持、倾耳听法。我何不前往沙门果德玛处,做出障碍之事。」那时,邪恶的魔罗前往世尊处;前往后,在世尊不远处发出巨大恐怖骇人的声音,确实,大地仿佛在震动。那时,某位比库对另一位比库这样说:「比库,比库,这大地仿佛在震动。」如此说时,世尊对那位比库这样说:「比库,这不是大地在震动。这是邪恶的魔罗为了对你们做出障碍之事而来。」那时,世尊知道「这是邪恶的魔罗」后,以偈颂对邪恶的魔罗说:
‘‘Rūpā saddā rasā gandhā, phassā dhammā ca kevalā;
「色、声、味、香、触与一切法——
Etaṃ lokāmisaṃ ghoraṃ, ettha loko vimucchito.
此为世间之可怖诱饵,世间迷恋于此。
‘‘Etañca samatikkamma, sato buddhassa sāvako;
「佛之具念弟子超越此,
Māradheyyaṃ atikkamma, ādiccova virocatī’’ti.
超越魔之领域,如日光耀。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
8. Piṇḍasuttaṃ8. 团食经
§154
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā magadhesu viharati pañcasālāyaṃ brāhmaṇagāme. Tena kho pana samayena pañcasālāyaṃ brāhmaṇagāme kumārikānaṃ pāhunakāni bhavanti. Atha kho bhagavā pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya pañcasālaṃ brāhmaṇagāmaṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Tena kho pana samayena pañcasāleyyakā brāhmaṇagahapatikā mārena pāpimatā anvāviṭṭhā bhavanti – mā samaṇo gotamo piṇḍamalatthāti.
一时,世尊住在马嘎达国的般差沙拉婆罗门村。当时,在般差沙拉婆罗门村,未婚女们正在举行待客节。 那时,世尊在上午时穿衣,持钵和衣,进入般差沙拉婆罗门村托钵。当时,般差沙拉的婆罗门居士们被魔罗以恶意缠附着——「愿沙门果德玛不要得到施食!」
Atha kho bhagavā yathādhotena pattena pañcasālaṃ brāhmaṇagāmaṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi tathādhotena pattena paṭikkami. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘api tvaṃ, samaṇa, piṇḍamalatthā’’ti? ‘‘Tathā nu tvaṃ, pāpima, akāsi yathāhaṃ piṇḍaṃ na labheyya’’nti. ‘‘Tena hi, bhante, bhagavā dutiyampi pañcasālaṃ brāhmaṇagāmaṃ piṇḍāya pavisatu. Tathāhaṃ karissāmi yathā bhagavā piṇḍaṃ lacchatī’’ti.
那时世尊如所洗之钵入五沙罗婆罗门村乞食,复如所洗之钵而返。那时魔罗波旬前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「沙门,你得食了吗?」「波旬,你如是行使我不得食,是吗?」「那么尊者,请世尊再入五沙罗婆罗门村乞食。我将如是行使世尊得食。」
‘‘Apuññaṃ pasavi māro, āsajja naṃ tathāgataṃ;
「魔生不善业,触犯如来;
Kiṃ nu maññasi pāpima, na me pāpaṃ vipaccati.
波旬,你为何如是想——『恶不与我果报』?
‘‘Susukhaṃ vata jīvāma, yesaṃ no natthi kiñcanaṃ;
「我等实乐生活——无任何所有者;
Pītibhakkhā bhavissāma, devā ābhassarā yathā’’ti.
我等将以喜为食,如光音天之天人。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。
9. Kassakasuttaṃ9. 农夫经

Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā bhikkhūnaṃ nibbānapaṭisaṃyuttāya dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti . Te ca bhikkhū aṭṭhiṃ katvā manasi katvā sabbacetasā samannāharitvā ohitasotā dhammaṃ suṇanti.
沙瓦提因缘。尔时,世尊以涅槃相应之法说,向比库们开示、劝导、激励、鼓舞。那些比库们作意、思惟、以全心专注、倾耳而听法。
Atha kho mārassa pāpimato etadahosi – ‘‘ayaṃ kho samaṇo gotamo bhikkhūnaṃ nibbānapaṭisaṃyuttāya dhammiyā kathāya…pe… yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena samaṇo gotamo tenupasaṅkameyyaṃ vicakkhukammāyā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā kassakavaṇṇaṃ abhinimminitvā mahantaṃ naṅgalaṃ khandhe karitvā dīghapācanayaṭṭhiṃ gahetvā haṭahaṭakeso sāṇasāṭinivattho kaddamamakkhitehi pādehi yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘api, samaṇa, balībadde addasā’’ti? ‘‘Kiṃ pana, pāpima, te balībaddehī’’ti? ‘‘Mameva, samaṇa, cakkhu, mama rūpā, mama cakkhusamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Kuhiṃ me, samaṇa, gantvā mokkhasi? Mameva, samaṇa, sotaṃ, mama saddā…pe… mameva, samaṇa, ghānaṃ, mama gandhā; mameva, samaṇa, jivhā, mama rasā; mameva, samaṇa, kāyo, mama phoṭṭhabbā; mameva, samaṇa, mano, mama dhammā, mama manosamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Kuhiṃ me, samaṇa, gantvā mokkhasī’’ti?
那时魔罗波旬如是想:「此沙门果德玛以与涅槃相应之法谈为诸比库说示……。我何不前往沙门果德玛处以障其视觉?」那时魔罗波旬化作农夫形,肩扛大犁,手持长牛鞭,头发散乱,身着麻衣,足涂泥泞,前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「沙门,你见公牛了吗?」「波旬,你要公牛作什么?」「沙门,眼是我的、色是我的、眼触识处是我的。你往何处能从我解脱?沙门,耳是我的、声是我的……沙门,鼻是我的、香是我的;沙门,舌是我的、味是我的;沙门,身是我的、触是我的;沙门,意是我的、法是我的、意触识处是我的。你往何处能从我解脱?」
‘‘Taveva , pāpima, cakkhu, tava rūpā, tava cakkhusamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Yattha ca kho, pāpima, natthi cakkhu, natthi rūpā, natthi cakkhusamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ, agati tava tattha, pāpima. Taveva, pāpima , sotaṃ, tava saddā, tava sotasamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Yattha ca kho, pāpima, natthi sotaṃ, natthi saddā, natthi sotasamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ, agati tava tattha, pāpima. Taveva , pāpima, ghānaṃ, tava gandhā, tava ghānasamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Yattha ca kho, pāpima, natthi ghānaṃ, natthi gandhā, natthi ghānasamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ, agati tava tattha, pāpima. Taveva, pāpima, jivhā, tava rasā, tava jivhāsamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ…pe… taveva, pāpima, kāyo, tava phoṭṭhabbā, tava kāyasamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ…pe… taveva, pāpima, mano, tava dhammā, tava manosamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ. Yattha ca kho, pāpima, natthi mano, natthi dhammā, natthi manosamphassaviññāṇāyatanaṃ, agati tava tattha, pāpimā’’ti.
「魔罗,眼是你的,色是你的,眼触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有眼、没有色、没有眼触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。魔罗,耳是你的,声是你的,耳触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有耳、没有声、没有耳触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。魔罗,鼻是你的,香是你的,鼻触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有鼻、没有香、没有鼻触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。魔罗,舌是你的,味是你的,舌触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有舌、没有味、没有舌触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。魔罗,身是你的,触是你的,身触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有身、没有触、没有身触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。魔罗,意是你的,法是你的,意触识处是你的。魔罗,然而在没有意、没有法、没有意触识处之处,魔罗,那里不是你的去处。」
‘‘Yaṃ vadanti mama yidanti, ye vadanti mamanti ca;
「凡说『此是我的』、以及说『我的』者——
Ettha ce te mano atthi, na me samaṇa mokkhasī’’ti.
若于此你有心,沙门,你不能从我解脱。」
‘‘Yaṃ vadanti na taṃ mayhaṃ, ye vadanti na te ahaṃ;
「凡所说非我之所有,凡所说者非我;
Evaṃ pāpima jānāhi, na me maggampi dakkhasī’’ti.
波旬,你如是应知——你也见不到我之道。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā…pe… tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬……即于彼处消失。
10. Rajjasuttaṃ10. 绳经
§156
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā kosalesu viharati himavantapadese araññakuṭikāyaṃ. Atha kho bhagavato rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘‘sakkā nu kho rajjaṃ kāretuṃ ahanaṃ aghātayaṃ ajinaṃ ajāpayaṃ asocaṃ asocāpayaṃ dhammenā’’ti?
一时,世尊住在国萨拉雪山地区一林间茅屋。那时世尊独自宴坐时生起如是思惟:「能否不杀、不使人杀,不夺、不使人夺,不愁、不使人愁,依法而为王?」
Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kāretu, bhante, bhagavā rajjaṃ, kāretu, sugato, rajjaṃ ahanaṃ aghātayaṃ ajinaṃ ajāpayaṃ asocaṃ asocāpayaṃ dhammenā’’ti. ‘‘Kiṃ pana me tvaṃ, pāpima, passasi yaṃ maṃ tvaṃ evaṃ vadesi – ‘kāretu, bhante, bhagavā rajjaṃ, kāretu sugato , rajjaṃ ahanaṃ aghātayaṃ ajinaṃ ajāpayaṃ asocaṃ asocāpayaṃ dhammenā’’’ti? ‘‘Bhagavatā kho, bhante, cattāro iddhipādā bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Ākaṅkhamāno ca, bhante, bhagavā himavantaṃ pabbatarājaṃ suvaṇṇaṃ tveva adhimucceyya suvaṇṇañca panassā’’ti .
那时魔罗波旬以心了知世尊心中之思惟,前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「尊者,愿世尊为王!愿善至为王,依法而不杀、不使人杀,不夺、不使人夺,不愁、不使人愁!」「波旬,你于我见到什么,而对我如是说:『尊者,愿世尊为王!愿善至为王……』?」「尊者,世尊已修习、多修习、作根本、作基础、坚住、熟练、善行之四神足。尊者,若世尊愿意,即可将雪山山王化为黄金,然后它将成为黄金。」
‘‘Pabbatassa suvaṇṇassa, jātarūpassa kevalo;
「即使整座黄金山,纯粹之黄金,
Dvittāva nālamekassa, iti vidvā samañcare.
亦不足于一人;知此智者应正行。
‘‘Yo dukkhamaddakkhi yatonidānaṃ,
「见苦从何而生,
Kāmesu so jantu kathaṃ nameyya;
人云何能倾向于欲?
Upadhiṃ viditvā saṅgoti loke,
了知依着为世间之着,
Tasseva jantu vinayāya sikkhe’’ti.
人应为调伏此而学。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ bhagavā, jānāti maṃ sugato’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「世尊了知我,善逝了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。

Atha kho māro pāpimā brāhmaṇavaṇṇaṃ abhinimminitvā mahantena jaṭaṇḍuvena ajinakkhipanivattho jiṇṇo gopānasivaṅko ghurughurupassāsī udumbaradaṇḍaṃ gahetvā yena te bhikkhū tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā te bhikkhū etadavoca – ‘‘daharā bhavanto pabbajitā susū kāḷakesā bhadrena yobbanena samannāgatā paṭhamena vayasā anikkīḷitāvino kāmesu. Bhuñjantu bhavanto mānusake kāme. Mā sandiṭṭhikaṃ hitvā kālikaṃ anudhāvitthā’’ti. ‘‘Na kho mayaṃ, brāhmaṇa, sandiṭṭhikaṃ hitvā kālikaṃ anudhāvāma. Kālikañca kho mayaṃ, brāhmaṇa, hitvā sandiṭṭhikaṃ anudhāvāma. Kālikā hi, brāhmaṇa, kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo. Sandiṭṭhiko ayaṃ dhammo akāliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhī’’ti. Evaṃ vutte, māro pāpimā sīsaṃ okampetvā jivhaṃ nillāletvā tivisākhaṃ nalāṭe nalāṭikaṃ vuṭṭhāpetvā daṇḍamolubbha pakkāmi.
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在释迦国石主村。那时众多比库不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,世尊不远处。那时魔罗波旬化作婆罗门形——大发髻,着鹿皮衣,年老、曲腰、喘息、手持优昙婆罗杖,前往彼等比库之处;到已对彼等比库说:「诸位出家者年轻、黑发、年少、具足青春,此第一期中未曾嬉戏于诸欲。诸位请享用人间之欲乐!莫舍现见法而追逐非时法。」「婆罗门,我等并非舍现见法而追逐非时法。婆罗门,我等乃舍非时法而追求现见法。婆罗门,诸欲被世尊说为非时、多苦、多恼、此中过患更多。此法乃现见的、无时的、来见的、导向的、智者应自证的。」如是说时,魔罗波旬摇头、吐舌、额上现三道皱纹、拄杖而去。
Atha kho te bhikkhū yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘idha mayaṃ, bhante, bhagavato avidūre appamattā ātāpino pahitattā viharāma. 于是,那些比库前往世尊所在之处;抵达后,向世尊礼敬,在一旁坐下。坐在一旁的那些比库对世尊如是说:「尊者,我们在世尊不远处,不放逸、热诚、自励而住。尊者,那时,某位婆罗门披着大块的结缕草毡和羚羊皮,老、驼背、喘息粗重,手持优昙钵罗杖,前往我们所在之处;抵达后,对我们如是说:『尊者们年少、出家、纯粹、黑发、具足美好的青春、正当盛年、未曾在诸欲中嬉戏。尊者们应享用人间的诸欲。不应舍弃现见之物而追逐当时之物。』如是说已,尊者,我们对那位婆罗门如是说:『婆罗门,我们并非舍弃现见之物而追逐当时之物。婆罗门,我们实是舍弃当时之物而追逐现见之物。婆罗门,诸欲被世尊说为当时之物,多苦、多恼,此中过患更多。此法是现见的、无时的、来见的、引导的、智者应各自体证的。』如是说已,尊者,那位婆罗门摇头、舔舌、在额头上竖起三道皱纹,依杖离去。」
‘‘Neso, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇo. Māro eso pāpimā tumhākaṃ vicakkhukammāya āgato’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā etamatthaṃ viditvā tāyaṃ velāyaṃ imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
「诸比库,那不是婆罗门。那是魔波旬为障你们之视觉而来。」那时世尊了知此义,即时说此偈:
‘‘Yo dukkhamaddakkhi yatonidānaṃ,
「见苦从何而生,
Kāmesu so jantu kathaṃ nameyya;
人云何能倾向于欲?
Upadhiṃ viditvā saṅgoti loke,
了知依着为世间之着,
Tasseva jantu vinayāya sikkhe’’ti.

Lābhā vata me, suladdhaṃ vata me, yvāhaṃ evaṃ svākkhāte dhammavinaye pabbajito. Lābhā vata me, suladdhaṃ vata me, yassa me sabrahmacārino sīlavanto kalyāṇadhammā’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā āyasmato samiddhissa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya yenāyasmā samiddhi tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmato samiddhissa avidūre mahantaṃ bhayabheravaṃ saddamakāsi, apissudaṃ pathavī maññe undrīyati.
一时,世尊住在释迦国石主村。那时具寿三密提于世尊不远处不放逸、热诚、精勤而住。那时具寿三密提独自宴坐时生起如是思惟:「我实有利,我实善得——我有阿拉汉、正自觉者为师。我实有利,我实善得——我于如是善说之法律中出家。我实有利,我实善得——我有具戒、善德之同梵行者。」那时魔罗波旬以心了知具寿三密提心中之思惟,前往具寿三密提之处;到已于具寿三密提不远处作大恐怖之声,大地似乎要崩裂。
Atha kho āyasmā samiddhi yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno āyasmā samiddhi bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘idhāhaṃ, bhante, bhagavato avidūre appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharāmi. 那时,具寿萨弥地去见世尊。抵达后,向世尊礼敬,然后在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下后,具寿萨弥地对世尊这样说——「尊者,这里我在离世尊不远处,不放逸、热诚、自励而住。尊者,那时,我独处、隐退时,心中生起了这样的思维:『我确实得利益了,我确实善得了,我的导师是阿拉汉、正自觉者。我确实得利益了,我确实善得了,我在如此善说的法、律中出家。我确实得利益了,我确实善得了,我的梵行同修者是持戒者、有善法者。』尊者,那时,在我不远处有大怖畏恐怖声,当时大地我想在震动。」
‘‘Nesā, samiddhi, pathavī undrīyati. Māro eso pāpimā tuyhaṃ vicakkhukammāya āgato. Gaccha tvaṃ, samiddhi, tattheva appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharāhī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho āyasmā samiddhi bhagavato paṭissutvā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi. Dutiyampi kho āyasmā samiddhi tattheva appamatto ātāpī pahitatto vihāsi. Dutiyampi kho āyasmato samiddhissa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa…pe… dutiyampi kho māro pāpimā āyasmato samiddhissa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya…pe… apissudaṃ pathavī maññe undrīyati. Atha kho āyasmā samiddhi māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
「三密提,那不是大地崩裂。那是魔罗波旬为障你之视觉而来。你去,三密提,于彼处不放逸、热诚、精勤而住。」「好的,尊者。」具寿三密提应诺世尊后,从座而起,礼敬世尊、右绕而去。第二次具寿三密提于彼处不放逸、热诚、精勤而住。第二次具寿三密提独自宴坐时……第二次魔罗波旬以心了知具寿三密提心中之思惟……大地似乎要崩裂。那时具寿三密提以偈对魔罗波旬说:
‘‘Saddhāyāhaṃ pabbajito, agārasmā anagāriyaṃ;
「我以信而出家,从家而至无家;
Sati paññā ca me buddhā, cittañca susamāhitaṃ;
我之念与慧已觉,心亦善入定;
Kāmaṃ karassu rūpāni, neva maṃ byādhayissasī’’ti.
任你显示诸色,不能扰乱于我。」
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ samiddhi bhikkhū’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
那时魔罗波旬心想:「三密提比库了知我。」愁苦、失意,即于彼处消失。

Atha kho āyasmā godhiko appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharanto sāmayikaṃ cetovimuttiṃ phusi. Atha kho āyasmā godhiko tamhā sāmayikāya cetovimuttiyā parihāyi . Dutiyampi kho āyasmā godhiko appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharanto sāmayikaṃ cetovimuttiṃ phusi. Dutiyampi kho āyasmā godhiko tamhā sāmayikāya cetovimuttiyā parihāyi. Chaṭṭhampi kho āyasmā godhiko tamhā sāmayikāya cetovimuttiyā parihāyi. Sattamampi kho āyasmā godhiko appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharanto sāmayikaṃ cetovimuttiṃ phusi.
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城竹林栗鼠饲养处。尔时,具寿果德咖住在仙人山黑石处。时,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。时,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第二次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。第二次,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第三次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。第三次,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第四次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。第四次,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第五次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。第五次,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第六次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。第六次,具寿果德咖从那暂时心解脱退失。第七次,具寿果德咖不放逸、热诚、精勤而住,证得暂时心解脱。
Atha kho āyasmato godhikassa etadahosi – ‘‘yāva chaṭṭhaṃ khvāhaṃ sāmayikāya cetovimuttiyā parihīno. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ satthaṃ āhareyya’’nti. Atha kho māro pāpimā āyasmato godhikassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
那时,具寿果帝咖生起这样的想法:「我已经六次从暂时心解脱退失了。我何不拿起刀呢?」那时,魔罗恶者知道具寿果帝咖心中的想法后,前往世尊处;抵达后,以偈颂对世尊说——
‘‘Mahāvīra mahāpañña, iddhiyā yasasā jala;
「大勇者、大慧者、具神通与声誉者、
Sabbaverabhayātīta, pāde vandāmi cakkhuma.
超越一切怨与怖者、具眼者,我礼您之足。
‘‘Sāvako te mahāvīra, maraṇaṃ maraṇābhibhū;
「大勇者,您之弟子、已胜死之死亡,
Ākaṅkhati cetayati, taṃ nisedha jutindhara.
希求思惟,请阻止他,光辉之持有者。
‘‘Kathañhi bhagavā tuyhaṃ, sāvako sāsane rato;
「云何,世尊,您的弟子乐于您之教,
Appattamānaso sekkho, kālaṃ kayirā janesutā’’ti.
心意未得之有学,竟舍寿命?人所知者。」
Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato godhikena satthaṃ āharitaṃ hoti. Atha kho bhagavā ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时具寿果低格已取刀。那时世尊知「此是魔罗波旬」,以偈对魔罗波旬说:
‘‘Evañhi dhīrā kubbanti, nāvakaṅkhanti jīvitaṃ;
「坚定者如是作,不欲求生命;
Samūlaṃ taṇhamabbuyha, godhiko parinibbuto’’ti.
拔除渴爱之根,果低格已般涅槃。」
Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘āyāma, bhikkhave, yena isigilipassaṃ kāḷasilā tenupasaṅkamissāma yattha godhikena kulaputtena satthaṃ āharita’’nti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ.
那时世尊呼唤诸比库:「来,诸比库,我们前往仙吉厘巴萨山旁黑岩,果低卡善男子取刀之处。」「好的,尊者。」彼等比库回答世尊。
Atha kho bhagavā sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ yena isigilipassaṃ kāḷasilā tenupasaṅkami. Addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ godhikaṃ dūratova mañcake vivattakkhandhaṃ semānaṃ . Tena kho pana samayena dhūmāyitattaṃ timirāyitattaṃ gacchateva purimaṃ disaṃ, gacchati pacchimaṃ disaṃ, gacchati uttaraṃ disaṃ, gacchati dakkhiṇaṃ disaṃ, gacchati uddhaṃ, gacchati adho, gacchati anudisaṃ.
那时,世尊与众多比库一起前往仙吉厘巴萨的黑石。世尊从远处看见具寿果地咖躺在卧床上,身体侧转。那时,有冒烟状、黑暗状,前往东方,前往西方,前往北方,前往南方,前往上方,前往下方,前往中间方向。
Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, etaṃ dhūmāyitattaṃ timirāyitattaṃ gacchateva purimaṃ disaṃ, gacchati pacchimaṃ disaṃ, gacchati uttaraṃ disaṃ, gacchati dakkhiṇaṃ disaṃ, gacchati uddhaṃ, gacchati adho, gacchati anudisa’’nti? ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’. ‘‘Eso kho, bhikkhave, māro pāpimā godhikassa kulaputtassa viññāṇaṃ samanvesati – ‘kattha godhikassa kulaputtassa viññāṇaṃ patiṭṭhita’nti? Appatiṭṭhitena ca, bhikkhave, viññāṇena godhiko kulaputto parinibbuto’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā beluvapaṇḍuvīṇaṃ ādāya yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时,世尊召唤比库们:「比库们!你们看见那冒烟状、黑暗状,前往东方,前往西方,前往北方,前往南方,向上前往,向下前往,向中间方前往吗?」「是的,尊者。」「比库们!这是魔罗波旬在寻找果帝咖善男子的识:『果帝咖善男子的识安住在何处?』比库们!果帝咖善男子以无所安住的识般涅槃了。」那时,魔罗波旬手持贝露瓦槃杜琵琶,去到世尊处;去到后,以偈颂对世尊说:
‘‘Uddhaṃ adho ca tiriyaṃ, disā anudisā svahaṃ;
「上下左右,四方四维我寻;
Anvesaṃ nādhigacchāmi, godhiko so kuhiṃ gato’’ti.
寻而不得,果低格往何处?」
‘‘Yo dhīro dhitisampanno, jhāyī jhānarato sadā;
「彼坚定者、具坚毅、常修禅乐禅者,
Ahorattaṃ anuyuñjaṃ, jīvitaṃ anikāmayaṃ.
昼夜精勤,不求生命。
‘‘Jetvāna maccuno senaṃ, anāgantvā punabbhavaṃ;
「胜死之军,不再受生;
Samūlaṃ taṇhamabbuyha, godhiko parinibbuto’’ti.
拔除渴爱之根,果低格已般涅槃。」
‘‘Tassa sokaparetassa, vīṇā kacchā abhassatha;
「彼愁苦者,琵琶从腋下落;
Tato so dummano yakkho, tatthevantaradhāyathā’’ti .
那时彼失意之亚卡,即于彼处消失。」
4. Sattavassānubandhasuttaṃ4. 七年随逐经
§160
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhe. Tena kho pana samayena māro pāpimā sattavassāni bhagavantaṃ anubandho hoti otārāpekkho otāraṃ alabhamāno. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
如是我闻:一时,世尊住在伍鲁韦拉,在内兰迦拉河边,山羊牧人榕树下。当时,魔波旬跟随世尊达七年,寻找可乘之机,却找不到可乘之机。那时,魔波旬前往世尊之处;到达后,以偈颂向世尊说道──
‘‘Sokāvatiṇṇo nu vanamhi jhāyasi,
「你因愁而禅坐林中耶?
Vittaṃ nu jīno uda patthayāno;
因丧失财物或希求财物?
Āguṃ nu gāmasmimakāsi kiñci,
因于村中犯何罪?
Kasmā janena na karosi sakkhiṃ;
何以不与人结交?
Sakkhī na sampajjati kenaci te’’ti.
你与任何人无交往耶?」
‘‘Sokassa mūlaṃ palikhāya sabbaṃ,
「已掘尽愁之一切根,
Anāgu jhāyāmi asocamāno;
我无罪、无愁而禅;
Chetvāna sabbaṃ bhavalobhajappaṃ,
已断一切有贪之渴望,
Anāsavo jhāyāmi pamattabandhū’’ti.
无漏而禅,放逸之亲族。」
‘‘Yaṃ vadanti mama yidanti, ye vadanti mamanti ca;
「凡说『此是我的』、以及说『我的』者——
Ettha ce te mano atthi, na me samaṇa mokkhasī’’ti.
若于此你有心,沙门,你不能从我解脱。」
‘‘Yaṃ vadanti na taṃ mayhaṃ, ye vadanti na te ahaṃ;
「凡所说非我之所有,凡所说者非我;
Evaṃ pāpima jānāhi, na me maggampi dakkhasī’’ti.
波旬,你如是应知——你也见不到我之道。」
‘‘Sace maggaṃ anubuddhaṃ, khemaṃ amatagāminaṃ;
「若道已觉悟——安稳、趣向不死者;
Apehi gaccha tvameveko, kimaññamanusāsasī’’ti.
去吧!你独自去!为何教导他人?」
‘‘Amaccudheyyaṃ pucchanti, ye janā pāragāmino;
「那些欲至彼岸之人,问不死之处;
Tesāhaṃ puṭṭho akkhāmi, yaṃ saccaṃ taṃ nirūpadhi’’nti.
受问者我告之,彼真实而无依着。」
‘‘Seyyathāpi, bhante, gāmassa vā nigamassa vā avidūre pokkharaṇī. Tatrassa kakkaṭako. Atha kho, bhante, sambahulā kumārakā vā kumārikāyo vā tamhā gāmā vā nigamā vā nikkhamitvā yena sā pokkharaṇī tenupasaṅkameyyuṃ; upasaṅkamitvā taṃ kakkaṭakaṃ udakā uddharitvā thale patiṭṭhapeyyuṃ. Yaṃ yadeva hi so, bhante, kakkaṭako aḷaṃ abhininnāmeyya taṃ tadeva te kumārakā vā kumārikāyo vā kaṭṭhena vā kathalāya vā sañchindeyyuṃ sambhañjeyyuṃ sampalibhañjeyyuṃ. Evañhi so, bhante, kakkaṭako sabbehi aḷehi sañchinnehi sambhaggehi sampalibhaggehi abhabbo taṃ pokkharaṇiṃ otarituṃ. Evameva kho, bhante, yāni kānici visūkāyikāni visevitāni vipphanditāni, sabbāni tāni bhagavatā sañchinnāni sambhaggāni sampalibhaggāni. Abhabbo dānāhaṃ, bhante, puna bhagavantaṃ upasaṅkamituṃ yadidaṃ otārāpekkho’’ti. Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato santike imā nibbejanīyā gāthāyo abhāsi –
「尊者,譬如在村或镇的不远处有一座莲池。那里有一只蟹。尊者,那时众多童子或童女从那村或镇出来,前往那莲池;前往后,从水中拉起那只蟹,放置于陆地上。尊者,那只蟹每当伸出任何一只螯,那些童子或童女就用棍子或石片将那只螯斩断、打碎、彻底打碎。尊者,这样,那只蟹所有的螯都被斩断、打碎、彻底打碎后,就无法进入那莲池。同样地,尊者,凡是任何延伸出去的、习行的、扩展出去的,所有那些都被世尊斩断、打碎、彻底打碎。尊者,现在我无法再前往世尊处,以期待机会。」那时,魔罗波旬在世尊面前说了这些厌离偈:
‘‘Medavaṇṇañca pāsāṇaṃ, vāyaso anupariyagā;
「脂色之石,乌鸦绕之而行,
Apettha muduṃ vindema, api assādanā siyā.
『我能得其柔软,或能得其美味。』
‘‘Aladdhā tattha assādaṃ, vāyasetto apakkame;
「于彼处不得美味,乌鸦从彼离去;
Kākova selamāsajja, nibbijjāpema gotamā’’ti.
如乌鸦触石,我厌离果德玛而去。」

Atha kho māro pāpimā bhagavato santike imā nibbejanīyā gāthāyo abhāsitvā tamhā ṭhānā apakkamma bhagavato avidūre pathaviyaṃ pallaṅkena nisīdi tuṇhībhūto maṅkubhūto pattakkhandho adhomukho pajjhāyanto appaṭibhāno kaṭṭhena bhūmiṃ vilikhanto. Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro yena māro pāpimā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsiṃsu –
那时魔罗波旬于世尊面前说此等厌离偈后,从彼处离去,于世尊不远处结跏趺坐于地,默然、惭愧、肩下垂、面向下、沉思、无言、以木划地。那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔罗之女前往魔罗波旬处;到已以偈对魔罗波旬说:
‘‘Kenāsi dummano tāta, purisaṃ kaṃ nu socasi;
「父亲,何以失意?你为哪人而愁?
Mayaṃ taṃ rāgapāsena, āraññamiva kuñjaraṃ;
我们将以欲罥,如林中之象;
Bandhitvā ānayissāma, vasago te bhavissatī’’ti.
将其束缚、引来,使其随你之愿。」
‘‘Arahaṃ sugato loke, na rāgena suvānayo;
「阿拉汉、善逝于世间,不能以贪爱引;
Māradheyyaṃ atikkanto, tasmā socāmahaṃ bhusa’’nti.
已超越魔境,故我深愁。」
Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘pāde te, samaṇa, paricāremā’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā na manasākāsi, yathā taṃ anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto.
那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔之女前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「沙门,我们侍你之足。」那时世尊不作意,因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。
Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro ekamantaṃ apakkamma evaṃ samacintesuṃ – ‘‘uccāvacā kho purisānaṃ adhippāyā. Yaṃnūna mayaṃ ekasataṃ ekasataṃ kumārivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimmineyyāmā’’ti. Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro ekasataṃ ekasataṃ kumārivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘pāde te, samaṇa, paricāremā’’ti. Tampi bhagavā na manasākāsi, yathā taṃ anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto.
那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔之女退到一旁,如是共思:「男人的心意各不相同。我们何不各化作百位童女之形?」那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔之女各化作百位童女之形,前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「沙门,我们侍你之足。」对此世尊亦不作意,因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。

Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… yaṃnūna mayaṃ ekasataṃ ekasataṃ sakiṃ vijātavaṇṇasataṃ abhinimmineyyāmāti. Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… sakiṃ vijātavaṇṇasataṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘pāde te, samaṇa, paricāremā’’ti. Tampi bhagavā na manasākāsi, yathā taṃ anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto.
那时渴爱等……「我们何不各化作百位曾一次生育之女形?」那时渴爱等……化作百位曾一次生育之女形,前往世尊之处;到已对世尊说:「沙门,我们侍你之足。」对此世尊亦不作意,因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。
Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… yaṃnūna mayaṃ ekasataṃ ekasataṃ duvijātavaṇṇasataṃ abhinimmineyyāmāti. Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… duvijātavaṇṇasataṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā…pe… yathā taṃ anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto. Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… majjhimitthivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimmineyyāmāti. Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… majjhimitthivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimminitvā…pe… anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto.
那时渴爱等……「我们何不各化作百位曾二次生育之女形?」那时渴爱等……化作百位曾二次生育之女形……因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。那时渴爱等……「我们何不各化作百位中年妇人之形?」那时渴爱等……化作百位中年妇人之形……因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。
Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… mahitthivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimmineyyāmāti . Atha kho taṇhā ca…pe… mahitthivaṇṇasataṃ abhinimminitvā yena bhagavā…pe… anuttare upadhisaṅkhaye vimutto. Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro ekamantaṃ apakkamma etadavocuṃ – saccaṃ kira no pitā avoca –
那时渴爱等……「我们何不各化作百位老妇人之形?」那时渴爱等……化作百位老妇人之形,前往世尊之处……因彼于无上依着灭尽已解脱。那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔之女退到一旁,说道:「父亲所说真实——
‘‘Arahaṃ sugato loke, na rāgena suvānayo;
「阿拉汉、善逝于世间,不能以贪爱引;
Māradheyyaṃ atikkanto, tasmā socāmahaṃ bhusa’’nti.
已超越魔境,故我深愁。」
‘‘Yañhi mayaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā avītarāgaṃ iminā upakkamena upakkameyyāma hadayaṃ vāssa phaleyya, uṇhaṃ lohitaṃ vā mukhato uggaccheyya, ummādaṃ vā pāpuṇeyya cittakkhepaṃ vā. Seyyathā vā pana naḷo harito luto ussussati visussati milāyati; evameva ussusseyya visusseyya milāyeyyā’’ti.
「我等若以此方法接近未离贪之沙门或婆罗门,其心脏会破裂,或从口中喷出热血,或陷入疯狂、心迷乱。犹如绿芦苇被割断后枯萎、干枯、凋谢;如是将枯萎、干枯、凋谢。」
Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho taṇhā māradhītā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔之女前往世尊之处;到已站于一旁。站于一旁的魔之女渴爱以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Sokāvatiṇṇo nu vanamhi jhāyasi,
「你因愁而禅坐林中耶?
Vittaṃ nu jīno uda patthayāno;
因丧失财物或希求财物?
Āguṃ nu gāmasmimakāsi kiñci,
因于村中犯何罪?
Kasmā janena na karosi sakkhiṃ;
何以不与人结交?
Sakkhī na sampajjati kenaci te’’ti.
你与任何人无交往耶?」
‘‘Atthassa pattiṃ hadayassa santiṃ,
「已得利益、心之寂静,
Jetvāna senaṃ piyasātarūpaṃ;
胜可爱悦色之军;
Ekohaṃ jhāyaṃ sukhamanubodhiṃ,
我独禅而证悟乐,
Tasmā janena na karomi sakkhiṃ;
故我不与人结交;
Sakkhī na sampajjati kenaci me’’ti.
亦不与任何人交往。」
Atha kho arati māradhītā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时魔之女不乐以偈对世尊说:
‘‘Kathaṃ vihārībahulodha bhikkhu,
「云何比库于此多住,
Pañcoghatiṇṇo atarīdha chaṭṭhaṃ;
已度五瀑流,于此度第六?
Kathaṃ jhāyiṃ bahulaṃ kāmasaññā,
云何禅者,多欲想,
Paribāhirā honti aladdha yo ta’’nti.
彼等在外,不能得之?」
‘‘Passaddhakāyo suvimuttacitto,
「身已轻安,心善解脱,
Asaṅkharāno satimā anoko;
不造作、具念、无家;
Aññāya dhammaṃ avitakkajhāyī,
了知法,无寻思之禅者,
Na kuppati na sarati na thino .
不怒、不念、不懈怠。
‘‘Evaṃvihārībahulodha bhikkhu,
「如是多住之比库于此,
Pañcoghatiṇṇo atarīdha chaṭṭhaṃ;
已度五瀑流,于此度第六;
Evaṃ jhāyiṃ bahulaṃ kāmasaññā,
如是禅者,多欲想,
Paribāhirā honti aladdha yo ta’’nti.
彼等在外,不能得之。」
Atha kho ragā māradhītā bhagavato santike gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
那时魔之女染著于世尊面前以偈说:
‘‘Acchejja taṇhaṃ gaṇasaṅghacārī,
「断渴爱、众中而行,
Addhā carissanti bahū ca saddhā;
诸信众将多行;
Bahuṃ vatāyaṃ janataṃ anoko,
此无家之人多众,
Acchejja nessati maccurājassa pāra’’nti.
断渴爱将引之至死王之彼岸。」
‘‘Nayanti ve mahāvīrā, saddhammena tathāgatā;
「大勇之如来,以正法引导;
Dhammena nayamānānaṃ, kā usūyā vijānata’’nti.
智者于以法引导者,何有嫉妒?」
Atha kho taṇhā ca arati ca ragā ca māradhītaro yena māro pāpimā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu. Addasā kho māro pāpimā taṇhañca aratiñca ragañca māradhītaro dūratova āgacchantiyo. Disvāna gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
那时渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔罗之女前往魔罗波旬处。魔罗波旬远远见渴爱、不乐、染著三位魔罗之女到来。见已以偈说:
‘‘Bālā kumudanāḷehi, pabbataṃ abhimatthatha ;
「愚者!你们欲以莲茎碎石山,
Giriṃ nakhena khanatha, ayo dantehi khādatha.
以指甲掘山,以牙咬铁。
‘‘Selaṃva sirasūhacca , pātāle gādhamesatha;
「如以头抬岩石,于深渊寻立足处,
Khāṇuṃva urasāsajja, nibbijjāpetha gotamā’’ti.
如以胸触桩,失意而离果德玛。」
‘‘Daddallamānā āgañchuṃ, taṇhā ca aratī ragā;
「渴爱、不乐、染著,辉耀而来——
Tā tattha panudī satthā, tūlaṃ bhaṭṭhaṃva māluto’’ti.
大师于彼处驱散彼等,如风吹散棉絮。」

摄颂曰:
Sambahulā samiddhi ca, godhikaṃ sattavassāni;
「众多、三密提、果低格、七年、
Dhītaraṃ desitaṃ buddha, seṭṭhena imaṃ mārapañcakanti.
诸女,最上之佛陀所说此魔之五经。」
